Valarie Anita
Walker--Chief Administrative Officer
She has traveled around the world
for 16 years with her father who was in the Army. She then lived
in Atlanta for 5 years and relocated to Los Angeles California
in 1991. During her tenure in Los Angeles, she was the Office
Manager for a head hunting firm that recruited MD’s and PhD’s
who were interested in transitioning from the clinical side of
medicine to the research side of medicine.
She went on to get involved in the political arena when she
became the right hand to the Honorable Gwen Moore, Retired
Assemblywoman, who served in the California State Legislature
for 26 years. In 2002 she became the Administrator for the
Future PAC, Women Building for the Future. The Future PAC
founded and created by African American Women, is the first
national political organization devoted to providing African
American women and women of color voters an opportunity to hold
more local, federal and state level political offices by
creating a network of support funding.
She worked with the City of Los Angeles on a recycling project
teaching school age children about recycling. In January of
2008, she helped establish the Los Angeles Chapter of the
National CARES Mentoring Movement. She was then recruited by Ms.
Susan L. Taylor, Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Essence Magazine
and Founder of the National CARES Mentoring Movement as the
National Coordinator for the National Office in Atlanta,
Georgia.
While building business relationships she also conducted and
guided recruitment and training sessions that included the
completion of background checks for prospective mentors and
connected them with existing organizations that specialize in
mentoring children. The successful management activities enabled
her to connect with corporate companies that were interested in
mentoring and creating school based mentoring programs. During
her professional career she has served in the capacity of
coordinator and manager at the national level with
responsibilities that included facilitating group dynamics and
mentorships for organizations. She is also a Caterer in her own
rights and operated her own catering business, Valarie’s
Catering Events by Design for 5 years creating delectable meals
around themes and special events.
She is the mother of 3 children, Va’Landrea age 25 who works in
the Marketing Department at Proctor and Gamble in Woodland
Hills, California. Her second child Reshea is 21 and a junior at
California State University at Long Beach, a son Devinn who is 8
years old and reside with her in Georgia and she has a 3 year
old granddaughter named Zya. She is the President of the Booster
Club for Rock Chapel Park and the Team Mom for her son’s
football team. When she has time for herself she enjoys
meditating, walking, listening to jazz and participating with
her sons activities.
Her commitment to excellence and her extraordinary ability as
coordinator and manager has enabled her to understand issues and
information as she brings her talents to the team of A-1
